Ripollès is a comarca (county) in Catalonia, Spain. It is located in the Ribes and Camprodon river valleys. As of 2001, its population is 25,744, about 40% of whom live in the capital, Ripoll.
Ripollès borders the comarques of Baixa Cerdanya, Berguedà, Osona, Garrotxa, and – across the border in France – Vallespir, Conflent, and Alta Cerdanya.

In the eastern, Girona sector of the Pyrenees. On the slopes of the high peaks along the border with France —Puigmal (2,913 m) or Puig de Bastiments (2,874 m)—, two great valleys form the northern part of Ripollès: Ribes valley (river Freser) and Camprodon valley (headwaters of the Ter). The two meet at Ripoll to form a single valley running north-south. The three valleys, in turn, have a series of side valleys branching off (Núria, Toses, Pardines, Les Llosses, Vallfogona). The area was resettled under the auspices of Guifré el Pelós (Wilfred the Hairy), founder of the monasteries of Ripoll (879) and Sant Joan de les Abadesses (885), of decisive importance in the history of Catalonia. The territory was part of the counties of Cerdanya, Osona, Ripoll and Besalú. Agriculture (fodder) and stock-breeding had been complemented by the traditional metal forges and weavers, which gave way, in modern times, to the metal and textile industries, located near the rivers to take advantage of water power, though today both sectors are in a deep crisis (interesting examples of industrial architecture). The beauty of the landscape, modern winter sports and the rich architectural heritage have given a strong boost to tourism, though the area already had a long tradition as a summer holiday destination.
